More Awards for Creativity 03/01/2010
![]() All the middle school students participated in the "Art Shapes the World" flag design contest with our art specialist last month. Isaia, Hunter, and Stefania were presented with Gold Brush Awards for their outstanding artistic work, and Stefania won the contest. Her design will be made into a flag and showcased around the country. All the students flag designs will be on display during the Up with Art Annual Student Art Show. This takes place at Pioneer Park in the round building. The K-8 reception takes place Sunday, March 7th from 2:00-3:00PM. Add Comment On Friday, Seth Bell won the Two Rivers Spelling Bee. Davida Drvenkar won 2nd place, and Jadyn Cook won 3rd place. Congrats to all who were courageous enough to participate! Community Service Field Trip 01/31/2010
![]() This past Tuesday, the middle school students headed to town. First stop: Stone Soup Kitchen. Students made biscuits, transformed cream into butter and buttermilk, built sandwiches, and decorated sandwich bags. Second stop: Street Outreach Advocacy Program (S.O.A.P). Students donated scarves and learned about the services offered to homeless youth their age. Third stop: Community Food Bank. Students went on a tour and learned quite a bit about how the Food Bank works and why it is one of the best in the nation. Please check out our Community Service Page for more photos and information. Thanks to all the community members who donated extra hats and scarves and to those community member (moms, sisters, grandmothers...) who helped us complete our own scarves! ![]() All of these hats and scarves were donated to the Street Outreach Advocacy Program (S.O.A.P). They will be given to homeless youth, ages 10-21. Knitting/Crochet Assignment over Xmas Break 12/09/2009
![]() Our community service knitting/crochet projects are gathering speed - I mean length. Homework over the holiday break is to continue working on your scarf. If you return after break with the entire scarf knitted (50 inches or your the span of your arms from wrist to wrist), you earn an A towards your Social Studies grade. If you return after break with 3/4 of the scarf completed (38 inches), you earn a B. If you return after break with 1/2 of the scarf completed (25 inches), you earn a C. ![]() Congratulations to the Two Rivers Robotics Club! This group of hard-working engineers took home the Teamwork Award. Special thanks to Trudy for giving her time to create this opportunity for the middle grade students. ![]() Our resident scientist, Chance, examines a crystal we grew using a solution of borax. Chance also grew space crystals and crystals formed from Epsom salts. |
